CRAZY street FASHION.

I don’t know where you live, but hopefully it’s somewhere where there is a lot of fashion…like New York. I know here in Los Angeles that the way to get into fashion, modeling, or acting is often through connections. I don’t know too much about the fashion industry, but I would think you could try these things:

–Find photographers in your area who are not quite up-and-coming but that you think have potential. Offer to let them use your designs on their models in their photo shoots. You can find photographers through agencies and websites online.

–Once you have some clothing completed (with your own personal tags stitched inside), try bringing them to smaller boutique stores and asking how you can go about selling them. I know a lot of people here who make jewelry and accessories at home and that’s how they get their lines picked up. Usually the boutiques will take a percentage of the sale, but it’s definitely a foot in the door.

–Offer up your services (setting up, set-building, personal assistant) to help at fashion shows, photo shoots, and anything else fashion-related. You can hopefully find some listings on Craigslist.org or something like that. Even if the gig doesn’t pay a lot (or nothing at all), it’s a great way to get to know people.

–Look for an internship at a fashion magazine or the fashion section of your local newspaper. You won’t get paid and it might be hard to land, but that would be HUGE.

That’s all I can really think of off the top of my head… I would definitely get a website up and take photos of all your designs. There are websites that offer TFP photo shoots so you can at least get some awesome photos of your work, if you don’t have them already. I wish I could be of more help… Good luck to you!!!!!!!
